ABOUT

Paul Haslinger is an Austrian-American composer, musician and producer whose work spans film, television and contemporary music. After joining Tangerine Dream in the late 1980s, he contributed to the group’s scores for films including Near Dark and Miracle Mile, before embarking on a solo career and establishing himself as a composer for film and television.

Over the course of more than three decades, Haslinger has worked across a wide range of cinematic forms, combining electronic and acoustic instrumentation with an often experimental approach to sound and composition. His film and television work includes The Perfection for Netflix, Wildling, and the BAFTA-winning series Somewhere Boy. He also contributed additional music to Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report.

Alongside his screen work, Haslinger has maintained a career as an independent recording artist and producer, collaborating with musicians including Jon Hassell, Graeme Revell and Peter Baumann. His solo album Exit Ghost (2020) explored a more intimate and introspective side of his musical language, while his label NOION continues to focus on experimental and contemporary music.

Haslinger’s latest film score is for A Long Winter, directed by Andrew Haigh.
